They are known for their flattened and extended cephalofoil, which provides these animals with a variety of functions, such as sensory reception and prey manipulation. They're found worldwide in warmer waters and unlike most sharks, some hammerhead species usually swim in schools during the day, becoming solitary hunters at night.
